Both Sandalwood and Rosewood are traditionally used for prayer beads. Sandalwood is a grounding wood, that brings tranquility and inner peace. It is useful in meditation, as it carries insight and guidance. 

Rosewood is used to call upon Ganesha; the creator and remover of obstacles, providing the necessary challenges and lessons in life that we need in order to evolve as beings. It is a warming wood that improves circulation, and thus also immunity, physical healing and vitality. 

This is a fairly long piece with large beads: 18.5 inches from the top of the neck to the guru bead, 22.5 inches with the tassel.
